A few years ago I decided to go for a test to find out what foods I was intolerant too. I had recently suffered from severe stomach cramps and they kept occurring, so I knew something wasn’t quite right. From this test I found out some of my main intolerance's but a particular one being dairy! Luckily this was minor compared to some of the others aka chilli and paprika which cause me to have a unbelievable burning stomach and sickness so we stay away from those always!
I was happy to cut down on most things dairy wise so milk, butter, cream but I still ate some cheeses and the one that I am obsessed with YOGURT! This may not be a issue for anyone but I love yogurt and have eaten it every day for years. My breakfast and dessert go to so I wasn’t giving that up anytime soon.
However, for the past few months I have had a patch of dry skin (eczema) on my wrist and it’s NOT going away. Despite the creams! I’ve also started to notice elsewhere on my hand and therefore I’ve decided I’m going to go ‘Dairy Free’!
I am going to start with a few weeks to a month and see if there is any change in my skin. If I see a positive change I will hold it out for longer and then introduce dairy back in slowly in 6 months time. You can reintroduce foods you’re intolerant to in future as your body may be able to accept them again. I have a family member who is a nutritional therapist so they can help guide me too. 😊
There are some great alternatives dairy free alternatives these days and although not my favourite… there is yogurt out there I can have so we’ll survive.
I’ll keep you updated on the process 😊 Let me know if you’re dairy free and you’re favourite alternatives?!
